The Iranian president, along with his boss the Supreme Leader of Iran, have been quite clear about their end times theology. They believe that it is their job to “hasten the arrival of Imam Mahdi and grant him good health and victory...” Who is this Imam Mahdi that the leaders of Iran pray will come quickly? To Shiite Muslims he is the 12th descendant of Mohammed who went into hiding 1300+ years ago. Their belief is that in the last days this Imam will come out of hiding after the world is thrown into chaos, clean things up and rule the new world bringing peace and harmony to all. What do the leaders of Iran believe they must do to hasten his arrival? They believe that since the so called 12th Imam will come only when the world is thrown into chaos, they must usher this chaos into the world. These are the same leaders who have successfully used the convoluted “engagement policy” that other world leaders have tried to employ to slow them down, to buy enough time to actively seek and possibly find the technology to produce nuclear weapons. If your plainly stated goals are to create chaos, wipe Israel off the map and destroy the United States… then a nuclear weapon might just do the trick. So you’d think the world would be in consensus; stop them! But we aren’t. Why? I contend that it’s because the world doesn’t believe that Iran’s leaders actually believe what they say they believe.
I believe them though. Why? Because I have strong held end times beliefs as well. Their beliefs revolve around the return of Imam Mahdi; mine around the return of Jesus Christ.
The Bible is quite clear about what is going to happen in the “latter days” before Jesus returns. According to Isaiah and Ezekiel, Israel is going to in a single day become a country after hundreds of years of wandering. Jews will gather from the ends of the earth back in their homeland. The people of Israel are then going to take the desolate land they move into and rebuild its agriculture industry and thrive financially. After a few years of relative peace, Russia then will ally themselves with Iran and several other Islamic countries to come against Israel to try and destroy them. And in a final showdown, God will intercede and destroy the armies that have come against His people.
Now before you call me a kook; read the prophesies of Isaiah and of Ezekiel, do a little research (some of the players names have changed since they were written), and explain away a couple things for me: On May 14th, 1948, after hundreds of years of the Jewish people wandering without a homeland, the United Nations decreed that Israel was once again a nation, fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy. How did Isaiah know that would happen? Since that day Jews from all over the world have returned in droves to their homeland; just as Ezekiel had prophesied over 2500 years ago. How could Ezekiel possibly have known that would happen? In 1948 the land that is known as Israel was literally a barren wasteland, today it is a flourishing exporter of agriculture. Ezekiel called that one as well… how? And did you know that over the past few years Russia, for the first time in its history, has been openly seeking a military alliance with Iran and several other Islamic countries to presumably come against Israel, the sworn enemy of those Islamic nations? How did Ezekiel and Isaiah, with incredible precision (read their prophesies before you send the nice men in white coats to my house) foretell the events of the past 60+ years?
God told us what is going to happen in the last days and we are now witnessing the players in this drama acting in a way that is completely consistent with what He said would happen. Why do I believe that Ahmadinejad is serious about bringing chaos to the world? Because that’s what God said he would be doing.
Only a few events are left to be fulfilled from these prophesies concerning the latter days. Watch for Iran to pair up with Russia and several of their Islamic friends and physically come against Israel with the intent to wipe them off the face of the earth. And then watch God intercede on Israel’s behalf.
Why is my lunatic ranting about end times scenarios valid while Mr. Ahmadinejad’s ranting is not? Track record. The Bible, with one hundred percent accuracy, foretold the first coming of Jesus Christ. Hundreds of prophesies… one hundred percent accuracy. Because this track record and because of the fact that we are seeing prophesy fulfilled before our very eyes, I’m going with the odds that the Bible is accurate about Jesus’ second coming. In contrast, there were zero, zilch, nada accurate prophesies concerning the first arrival of Imam Mahdi. So since Mahmoud has no evidence of past success in predicting the future, it’s hard for me to believe that he’s right about the future reemergence of Mr. Mahdi. Call me crazy.
