The Law of Theoretical Idiocy
I was once naïve enough to believe that you had to be smart to be considered an intellectual. But as I’ve grown older, experience has taught me that in many cases the old saying “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach” holds true. I’m willing to bet that I’m not the only person who has observed that many of the so-called “geniuses” of the academic intelligentsia are quite dim-witted when it comes to real world application. So what happens when the intelligentsia find themselves in positions of power?

Unfortunately, we are beginning to find out because many of those dim-witted geniuses are now in the upper echelons of our federal government. Highly educated in prestigious universities, it seems that their perspectives on life are skewed as compared to those of us who find it practical to live in the real world.

One example of dim-witted arrogance in high places is the former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn who claims Mao Zedong as one of her political heroes, a person she “turns to most” for guidance. Let’s review who Mao Zedong is, shall we: As the first Chairman of the Communist Party of China this “political theorist” and “visionary” led China for 27 years and was very well liked by many of the people he didn’t kill… that’s right, this wonderful communist leader was absolutely loved and adored by those who agreed with him. For the 40 to 60 million people who didn’t agree with him during his Chinese Chairmanship… well, they mysteriously died of unnatural causes. When you kill 40 to 60 million people, that disqualifies you as a candidate for the position of one of my “favorite political philosophers”… but then again I’m not that smart.

It’s very difficult for many of us to understand people like Ms. Dunn and others that have surround President Obama unless we examine the realm in which they navigate life. You see, those who live in the alternative reality of the intelligentsia, who heretofore will be referred to as the “Official Blowhard Aristocratic Morons of America” or “O.B.A.M.A.” deal mostly in the realm of theory. In their mind, this theory of communism as espoused by Zedong, Lenin, Stalin, Castro and other brutal dictators, makes total sense. The O.B.A.M.A. may even admit that those communist leaders made mistakes, but in that admission there is a caveat that their mistakes were in the implementation of this theory… they will never recognize, no matter what evidence you provide, that the theory itself is flawed. Non-intellectuals have a hard time understanding this because we choose to live in the real world where evidence matters. We can’t deal in theory because theory doesn’t pay our mortgage; therefore we are forced to deal in reality. But dealing in reality is impractical for the O.B.A.M.A. because reality many times directly opposes their brilliantly conceived theories.

Therein lies the problem in dealing with O.B.A.M.A., evidence doesn’t matter, the theoretical conclusions that have been formed in their brilliant minds are what matter. So if you disagree with them about the idea of communism, then you are obviously too stupid to understand their brilliance and therefore must be silenced. If you don’t believe that man has caused the earth to warm because the evidence suggests that human activity has little to no effect on global temperature, then you are too stupid to understand their genius and therefore you must be discredited. And if you ask for them to provide one example of Keynesian economics success, they’ll laugh with that annoying, condescending intellectual “har har” laugh and tell you they studied economics at Harvard - which is somehow supposed to prove that they are smart and you are ignorant.

Unfortunately their smugness and confidence has convinced some to follow them. But take comfort… they haven’t fooled God who said this about the so called wise of the world: “Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; and again, “The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.””
