Genesis 2: 2,3 - And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Was God tired? No, God doesn’t get tired… but he did want to set an example for man. Work six days and rest on the seventh.

But like everything we’ve corrupted even that simple idea. We’re either not resting at all or we’re working very hard to make sure we rest in such a way that our rest is restful enough to be sanctified.

From these verses it seems pretty simple - take one day out of the week to relax… let the smarter and holier people argue about whether or not you are resting properly or on the right day.
